Do you need to make 500 dollars fast?
There are tons of reasons why you might need to earn an extra $500.
Maybe payday is just a little too far away, or an unexpected expense came up – I know I’ve been there.
Don’t worry, there’s no judgment here. Whatever the reason is, I’ve got you covered. I’ve rounded up some things you can do to make some extra cash.
I’ll tell you about the things that have worked for me, and I’ll tell you about some things I haven’t tried (but still seem legit).
It’s definitely possible to make $500 fast if you combine some of these.
Some of these options are pretty easy and will get you some quick money, other ways will require a bit of work, but can still be worth your time.
How This List Is Broken Down
To make sure this list is helpful and to make it easy for you to find things, I’ve broken this list down into sections.
I’ve broken things down by how much effort everything will take.
I’ve started out with free money things, then to money from signup bonuses.
Here are the easiest to make a possible $500+ fast! You don’t need to spend a lot of time on these things and you could potentially earn $500+ (or even $1000+)!
There’s literally billions of dollars floating around in “unclaimed money”!
If you don’t know what unclaimed money is, it’s money from accounts that have become “inactive” for one year (or more). This could be things like “savings or checking accounts, stocks, uncashed dividends or payroll checks, refunds, traveler’s checks, trust distributions, unredeemed money orders or gift certificates (in some states), insurance payments or refunds and life insurance policies, annuities, certificates of deposit, customer overpayments, utility security deposits, mineral royalty payments, and contents of safe deposit boxes” [from Unclaim Property Authority].
Some of this money could be yours! The first step in figuring out if you’re owed money, is checking with Missing Money.
Just put in your name and see what comes up, if there is a result and you recognize the state/address, it could be yours! You will then be directed to the state’s website to fill out a claim form so your identity can be confirmed. After your claim form is filled out and submitted, it will be processed and then you will receive your money (if the claim is approved). 💸
Some states don’t participate with Missing Money, so if nothing came up when searching on Missing Money, google [your state] + unclaimed money, and see if your state has a special website for unclaimed money.
I checked for unclaimed money last month and found out I was owed $130+, and I got my check just last week! 🤑
Robinhood is perfect if you’re a beginner investor or if you just want to have a separate account to play around with single stocks.
If you don’t currently have a Robinhood account, you can signup through my link and get a free share of stock valued from $2.50 to $200
Paribus (do companies owe you money)
Paribus is a service that monitors your online purchases, the prices for the items, and if there’s a price drop they will work on your behalf to get you a refund of the difference.
I’ve been using Paribus since 2015 (yep!) and I’ve saved hundreds of dollars, and I’ve also gotten a few extra months of Amazon prime because packages arrived late (woo!).

These are things that will give you money for signing up. Usually, these are bank account or credit cards. These are easy to do, but do require that you read all the fine print so you know exactly what you’re getting into. Be careful!
Get Paid to Open a New Checking Account
Did you know you can make between $150 and $600 just for opening a checking account?
If you aren’t super attached to your current checking account or you wouldn’t mind have a second (or third, or fourth) checking account, maybe consider opening a new account at a bank that will give you cash?
To earn money for opening a new account, find an offer and complete the steps. It’s not too difficult but make sure you READ THE FINE PRINT! Some offers require you to do certain things like deposit a certain amount or make a certain amount of purchases.
In the past I’ve gotten signup bonuses with Chase bank (and I have no complaints!), but if you’re looking for other lucrative bonuses, check out this Bank Account Offers page from Money Crashers. It’s updated monthly to show high-paying bank account offers.
